Year 3 make Stone Age pinch pots and use hard, metamorphic stones to grind seeds to make flour.

Building on their work on the different stages of the Stone Age, Year 3 thought how hunter gatherers began to settle and make things to store food in They made pots with clay using stones and sticks to decorate them. They also used their knowledge of different types of rocks (Science) to choose hard, metamorphic stones to grind seeds with to make flour. It was decided sedimentary rocks would be too soft and you might end up with chalky porridge!
