Statements for writing

 

At Hoole Church of England Primary School, we believe that all pupils should be able to confidently communicate their knowledge, ideas and emotions through their writing. We want pupils to develop a wide vocabulary as well as an interest in and a love of words. We want pupils to secure a strong understanding of grammar and to be able to spell new words by effectively applying the spelling patterns and rules they learn throughout their time at Hoole. We want them to write clearly, accurately and coherently and be able to adapt their language and style for a range of contexts, purposes and audiences.

Writing is taught using the Pathways to Write system. This text-based approach provided children with the necessary skills needed to become confident and independent writers whilst also instilling a passion for writing. For more information on this see the documents below.

Hoole C of E Primary School is proud to be a flagship school for P2Write. This programme is firmly embedded within our curriculum and plays a significant role in securing the strong outcomes we achieve through the Pathways Literacy approach.

As a flagship school, we ensure that all staff are fully trained and confident in delivering the programme consistently. Our learning environments reflect the ethos of Pathways Literacy and celebrate the achievements of our pupils.
